Compatibility list
Compatible Microscopes
Any camera your operating system sees as a UVC camera should work for live view, capture, calibration and measurement. The microscope must be connected to your computer through its USB port with a data cable. Wi-Fi-only models and charge-only cables do not expose a UVC camera. This list is more specific: it records what we have tested, what we verified on real hardware, and what we expect to work, honestly.
The status labels mean:
- Fully integrated
Fully integrated with a dedicated device adapter.
- Tested and compatible
Tested and compatible on real hardware by us.
- Community verified
Verified by community users.
- Expected to work through UVC
Expected to work through standard UVC (not yet individually tested).
- Not currently supported
Not currently supported.
Models listed are the ones we verified on real hardware. We publish results here as devices are verified. No blanket brand claims.

Smart G-Scope: First-class support: reference implementation with device SDK integration, automatic magnification and physical scale, click-to-focus and EDOF.
Dino-Lite: Generic UVC video everywhere; optional SDK adapter adds MicroTouch capture, LED control and automatic magnification/field of view when the model and driver expose them.
Jiusion: Standard webcam chipset family; snapshot button behavior varies by unit.
Plugable: Clean UVC baseline device: good first test for format enumeration, MJPEG vs uncompressed and reconnection behavior.
TOMLOV: LCD/HDMI/USB models expose a lower-resolution PC preview; PC resolution can be more limited than the internal recording resolution.
Andonstar: Some HDMI-first models do not expose a live UVC feed; the app shows a clear message for devices without a camera stream.
Bysameyee: Webcam-chipset family with fragmented bundled software; snapshot and zoom buttons behave differently between applications.
HAYEAR: C-mount cameras for stereo/compound/industrial optics; high-resolution streams stress bandwidth, decoding and rendering.
AmScope: MD-series eyepiece cameras are UVC; other AmScope camera families may require individual verification.
Celestron: USB-C handheld and eyepiece-imager formats; useful for schools and family science.
OMAX: Explicitly UVC-compatible eyepiece cameras; some AmScope and OMAX models share chipsets.
Skybasic: Wired models expose a standard UVC stream the system lists as GENERAL-UVC. Wi-Fi-only Skybasic models are not UVC and are not covered.
Elikliv: Wired models with an explicit PC camera mode enumerate as UVC; models that only offer mass-storage mode are not covered.
INSMA: Same webcam-chipset family as other budget wired microscopes; snapshot button behavior varies by unit.
Unbranded / generic UVC: Many cheap “brands” are the same webcam chipsets under different shells. Connect and the app shows the exact device name, VID/PID and formats.
Many cheap “brands” are the same webcam chipsets in different shells. If you do not see your model, connect it: the app shows the exact device name, USB vendor/product ID and available formats.
